Richard at The Server Side has it that:

"Rumor is that IONA is being acquired by another company, most likely Software AG. The interesting part is that the investment banking firm working the deal has been shopping IONA's open source group and intellectual property to competitors in the infrastructure/middleware arena."

This is a prediction that Software AG will announce an agreement to buy a majority stake (or more) in IONA. What Software AG decides to do with IONA vis-a-vis open source is outside the scope of this prediction, though certainly worth a discussion and more speculation;)
