Microsoft is promoting what some gadget sites think is a new type of mouse tracking technology. The tagline "Say Goodbye to Laser" appeared on Microsoft's hardware site with a previously unseen logo. Commenters on Engadget found a now-removed page on Amazon Germany's website, which gave more information.
The new technology, called "Blue Track" is based on a "blue LED combined with a wide-angle lens that's supposed to work on more surfaces than laser and optical." All that is neat, I suppose, but I don't know if it's really "goodbye to laser."
The new mouse will likely be introduced at a September 9th event where Microsoft will roll out its latest product line.
